About our Instructor - Brennan Autry

Brennan Autry

Brennan Autry is a retired U.S. Navy combat veteran.  He started his diving career in 1990 while studying biology at Palm Beach Atlantic University.  Since then, Brennan has done dives on five (5) continents and completed over 5,000 dives.  He has certified over 700 students and has the ability and knowledge to teach 75 courses in apnea, recreational, technical, scientific, and Public Safety Diving.​

Brennan is the Technical Training Director for International Diving Educators Association (IDEA) and the U.S. representative for the ProTec (Professional Technical & Recreational Diving) diving agency for the Recreational Scuba Training Council.  He is a dive consultant for the International Diving Safety Standards Commission (IDSSC) in recreational, technical, and cave diving.  He holds the instructor level of Instructor Trainer for SDI, TDI, and ProTec; Course Director for NAUI and IDEA; and IDC Staff Instructor for PADI.  Brennan is also a cave diving instructor for TDI, NSS-CDS, and RAID.

Brennan has 25 years in the medical field as both a practitioner and administrator.  He puts this experience into every training class he offers as a Divers Alert Network (DAN) Instructor Trainer, a First Response Training International Instructor Trainer, an Emergency Care Safety Institute Instructor Trainer, and a PADI Emergency Response Instructor.  He teaches classes in First Aid, CPR, BLS, and Wilderness First Aid, along with many others that assist those he teaches and his community.  While in the Navy, he designed a scuba program for the treatment of depression, anxiety, and PTSD while utilizing appropriate therapeutic counseling modalities.  

Brennan has a Master of Science in Health Sciences from the University of Central Florida.  He also holds degrees from the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg College, and is pursuing a degree from Bellevue University.  He also serves as an Adjunct Facility Member at Hillsborough Community College.
